Notes
I initially had some words typed out but I decided to redo the whole thing so that I could pen some fresh thoughts about the playlist or the week.
Milkweed was a recommendation by the algorithm and I did not know what to expect, yet it was a sound I did not know I wanted. Bits of folk paired with sparse instrumentation and tape hiss, it was a bit of meditation that I could take with me on my commutes to work.
The rest of the playlist soon followed and I was introduced to other musicians like thredd, feeo, Jabu, and more. Overall, the week progressed into the territories of ambient, noise, electronica, and a deviation to rock when I revisited one of the playlists that were not published, but it spawned a session with Deafheaven which was a welcomed burst of energy and aggression.
I suppose that aggression is also what allowed us to end off with Lyra Pramuk’s catastrophic Gravity.
This playlist also served as an accompaniment to a walk I took on the Labrador Nature and Coastal Walk, which is a hike that I’ve put off for the longest time, but I’m glad I walked a good part of it to better understand the land around me. I also spent a meal with Rudi and it was always good to catch up with a friend and exchange ideas, laughter, encouragement, and doubts. Jenna and I have also embarked on a change to our diets and it has been challenging, but I am bolstered that we are doing it together, and that we are exchanging notes with each other that both serve as encouragement as well as guidance.
