Notes

This entry is coming in a week after its intended publish date. But I wasn’t too anxious about that because it just wasn’t happening last week despite the playlist being done. I just had not gathered my thoughts enough to write or publish anything.

I don’t know if I have much to say, nor am I quite sure how the playlist started, but I guess one takeaway is that the new Bungie game, Marathon, released that week, and I was quite interested in the marketing material, aesthetics, treatment, audio design and soundtrack of the game. Ryan Lott is the composer for the game, and it really brings across an otherworldly tension that isn’t something necessarily found on earth or current cultures, yet it also sounds somewhat clinical and futuristic as if some future human wrote it.

The playlist then shifts gears towards some grunge / nu-metal-ish territory, which is fun to listen to but probably not for protracted periods of time. Nice crunchy riffs though.
